large, well cast and finished 19thcentury bronze with hand-chased details, strongly
displaying Indian influence in the sensual treatment of the figure. Dark umber
overall with metallic highlights in the polished areas and a rich patina of green
oxidation with malachite deposits.

Goddess of Wealth and prosperity wearing a high Nepalese crown is seated in lalitasana,
her six arms holding various attributes, her front right hand lowered in varada
mudra of charity and her left holding the kalasa, the urn of precious nectars
symbolizing the treasure of spiritual wealth, with magical substances spilling
from the top of the urn. Loosened tendrils spill onto her shoulders; she is seated
upon a double lotus throne wearing a foliate necklace, floral armbands, bracelets,
a sacred cord and a dhoti patterned with flowers and leaves.
