antique Vajrasattva, the ultimate Adi Buddha, representation of the Diamond Essence,
in bronze with copper, cold gold and other pigments painted on the metal, turquoise
stones set into the jeweled ornaments and the gilded crown; celestial scarves,
girdle, ghanta and vajra. Well-cast with painted details, large slightly downcast
eyes and mystic smile, holding the vajra in the right hand palm upward against
the chest, and the bell in the left hand resting on the left thigh; seated in
full lotus posture leaning slightly to the left atop a lotus throne. Vajrasattva
is regarded by Nepali Buddhists as the priest of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, whose
