This authentic antique Kutani eggshell porcelain tea set has thirteen pieces. The group comprises an exquisite hexagon-shaped teapot, six translucent vitreous fine bone china matching cups and saucers, elaborately painted with sceneries of the imperial courts and aristocratic families. The triptych themes illustrate the serene life with ornate floral patterns and gold trims, celebrating the prosperity and luxurious time in the Meiji era. Signed in gold inside a red rectangular reserve, “Tashiro Do 田代 造.” The superb artistry and elegant style are consistent with the Yokohama kiln of the Taisho-era (1912-26), which ceased production in 1937.
