This fine bronze statue depicts Padma Sambhava, the revered "Lotus-Born" Guru Rinpoche, regarded as the primary guru of Buddhism in Tibet and honored in the Nyingma-pa School as a saint second only to the Historic Buddha. Gilded in gold, Padma Sambhava sits in a natural ease position in deep contemplation. The khaṭvanga staff on his forearm symbolizes the triumph of wisdom over illusion. In his right hand, he holds a Vajra scepter; in his left, an elaborate skull bowl containing the immortality elixir. The layers of garments gleam with pure gold, semi-precious stones, and hand-traced foliate, adding to the statue's grandeur. Padmasambhava wears a distinct adept’s hat. His expression is solemn yet kind, his round eyes intently fixed, and his broad lips firmly set with curled furrows. This Padma Sambhava is an expertly crafted, opulent work of art that exudes reverence and power.
