Distinctive facial features
of a young girl set this vintage Chinese alabaster carving of Quan Yin apart from
the traditional representation of the Bodhisattva. Highly polished and deeply
carved in details and ornaments, her wholesome and sweet
countenance are beautifully reflected here in down cast eyes and a mysterious
smile. Quan Yin is synonymous with bodhisattva Avolokiteshvara and is experienced
as the essence of mercy and compassion. The statue is well suited
for a meditation alter or a private courtyard gardens.
