missing lotus, rust, o.a. very good!
fair size Kannon in heavy cast iron, with a rich surface texture and encrustation
of iron rust in black. The style and proportions of the statue point to an earlier
Chinese influence. The simple form of the compassion Bodhisattva backed by a flaming
mandorla is appealing in its archaic presence. It appears that the Kannon was
once holding a lotus now missing; otherwise
the statue is overall in good condition.
