A finely carved wood statue of Honen as a young monk standing on an elevated gold gilt lotus pedestal, hands folded near his chest in prayer, eyes downcast in meditative gaze. This artfully rendered statue of the founder of Pure Land School emits a spiritual presence that enlivened the Seventh Jodo Shinshu Patriarch. Lightly darkened by incense smoke from years of worship, the statue aged beautifully and is in excellent condition.
