An intricate Dehua porcelain Guan Yin in exquisite fine details, the Bodhisattva of Compassion is gracefully seated on a boulder in lalitasana asana above swirling waves with a custom-made rosewood pedestal. The goddess is cloaked in symmetric Tang-style attire, wearing a jeweled crown embellished with a small figure of Amitabha Buddha. She is adorned with strings of necklace, bracelet, and a floating celestial cape with symmetric pleats and folds. Her right wrist gently rests on the bent knee, showing intricately modeled articulated fingers. Her downward-gazing eyes convey a contemplative countenance reflecting an enlightened state. With meticulous craftsmanship evident in every detail, the Bodhisattva is brilliantly evoked in this spectacular Blanc de Chine statue. The porcelain figure is speckled with hand-sculpted tool marks on the interior. Along with the Dehua gourd mark and seal of the Porcelain Master He Chaozong 何朝宗印, leaving no doubt that this is a work of art from the Fujian 福建 kiln of the earlier years.
