A classic manju in shape and size, made of a quality walrus ivory, cream color with age patina, lightly carved in sunk relief leaving a tactile expanse of smooth ivory with dazzling texture. The design possibly depicting the passage of a zen priest on a boat. The carving is accomplished with simplicity of technique that has a charm of folk style, yet the quick draw sumi ink figure displays a sure hand.
