Late
19th to early 20th Century Shakyamuni, Chinese made with heavily influenced by
Tibetan Buddhism, as evidenced in its formal posture, which detailed in lines
of Chinese style symmetry. The Sino Tibetan design purposefully created a sense
of perfect harmony. Well suit the man who transcended himself through meditation
and became the Historic Buddha
Serene and eternal, The Buddha’s hands are in a protection mudra, left hand palm
upturned and resting on his lap, while the right hand palm faces outward towards
the viewer. Made from an attractive schist stone, the piece reflects a slight
gleam in its patina, obtained over time. Shakyamuni sits on a floral motifs decorated
double plinth. In excellent condition.
