In Tribhanga Stand

Excellent An
high crowned Nepalese Tara, the female aspect of Avalokitesvara, in tribhanga
stand atop a rich an opened base. She is represented with two lotus blossoms flanking
both shoulders. Her chracteristics are traditionally done in Nepalese fashion:
an equipoise stance bent in three places, an ornate dhoti cast with elaborate
foliate patterning, meditation cords and beaded strands, eyes slightly downcast
in contemplation, and the faint image of Avalokitesvara in her crown. In some
schools of Buddhism there are 21 forms of Tara. This one is a lovely, feminine
representation of the bodhisattva. In excellent condition.
