There is a resonant intrinsic peace is this classic Chinese antique sitan wood Buddha. Amida (or Amitabha) is the Buddha of infinite light. He is deeply popular throughout China, Korea and Japan, and is central to the practice of Pure Land Buddhism. This statue, is depicted in Amitabha’s classic stance, seated in lotus his hands in the mudra of contemplation and meditation. The face here is classically round and the countenance reflects deep lucid peace. It is said that from peace all is born. It is our innate nature once we are awakened from the delusions of our suffering, our need to hold on, to grasp. For all passes and transforms and all form is impermanent. Empty yet full. This Buddha is in excellent condition and communicates the depth, gravitas and beauty of the deity. (SD)
