seated Buddha from the Shan State in Burma, which is bordered by China, Laos and
Thailand, exhibiting the dominant Thai influence in the stylized symmetry, the
flaming usnisha and the bhumisparsa meditation mudra, which is the one most frequently
seen on Burmese Buddhas. Much of the gilding remains, with traces of red pigment
on the lips, the usnisha and the base,with black pigment for the hair.
