Tara, the most popular goddess in Nepal and Tibet, stands half-naked in a tribhanga pose on a 2-tiers circular base, her pelvis gently thrust forward, wearing a clinging garment which is incised with finer floral decoration, with a hand-chased chignon, jeweled earrings, necklace, earrings, and tall crown. Her right hand is extended in varada mudra, and a vitarka mudra in her left with a blooming lotus. With full lips curved in a slight smile, she radiates with a quiet glow that emanates a spiritual essence, while her youthful beauty adds to the sumptuous appeal of the Goddess of Compassion. The gilded bronze is extensively hand-chased with elaborate details. Possibly from worship and handling through the ages, the statue has random patches of green patina and tiny nicks over a reddish copper core. Overall in very good condition.
