Lacquer Inro Netsuke

A toy-like tsuishu neko sitting above a small fan, this carved red lacquer netsuke is accompanied with a pink coral ojime, and an oval-shaped single case child inro made of natural kiri (paulownia), decorated with two peonies in gold takamakie on one side, and a family mon on the opposing side over a lacquered ground of wavy lines. Signed on the base in Kanji script: Kansai. A recorded prolific lacquer artist by Raymond Bushell in The Inro Handbook, pg. 100.
