Condition: excellent! Beautifully
smooth ivory one-disc Manju depicting images of a folded crane flanked by lines
of movement. Lightly carved in relief, the black grooves boldly mark the folded
angles without interrupting the continuity of polished ivory. Four different views
are depicted; a head-on, ¾ left, ¾ right, and a ¾ from the back; the picture perfect
simplicity of a folded crane. Imagine a child or young adult seizing upon the
latest trend circa 19 th century Japan, good fortune and long life. A great piece
in excellent condition.
