This playful antler netsuke portraying one of the seven Luck Gods Ebisu, the gods of abundance, well carved in dense light cream stag antler, exuberant features with joyous countenance. At his side is a small boy who clings to the sennin, perhaps learning he art of fishing. A pleasing contrast of broad smooth areas with the clustered details in the back, where engraving and sumi in fine hair lines detailing various motifs on the fabric. The base is capped with a rectangular platform. Signed Gyokuzan next to two himotoshi.
