A large and well preserved Chinese ivory carving, the group carved from a
single piece of ivory near the tip of the tusk, light cream in color with dense
striations and markings, depicting a striding elephant beset by three tigers.
One tiger bites the elephant’s tail, while two more attempt to grasp it from below,
their paws on its tusks, the elephant’s curled trunk holding a large tusk as well.
In excellent condition with fitted rosewood base.
