A magically
conceived small bronze Kuanyin with dragon and wisdom pearl. The Chinese dragon
is made up of nine entities; it has the head of camel, the eyes of a demon, the
ears of a cow, the horns of a stag, the neck of a snake, it's belly a clam's,
it's claws that of an eagle, while the soles of his feet are that of a tiger,
and the 117 scales that cover its body are that of a carp. The dragon is a divine
bringer of rain, just as Kuanyin with her water vase brings relief to the drought
in the souls of sentient beings. In this small bronze, the four clawed dragon
stands over Kuanyin, protecting her and lending his transforming power to her
compassionate actions. Finely modeled and cast, the bronze has a dark patina with
pronounced areas of green mineralization on the dragon. The details are crisp
with delicate work describing the hair and features, the details of the robes
and the base afloat on the ocean. The piece is wonderfully completed on the back,
with the full body of the dragon twisting downward to the base, aflame, as it
holds a mystic ball. |
