An inspiring Japanese carving in an aged heartwood tree log, fusing art and nature by revealing a compassionate Kannon with downcast eyes, her hands in Anjali mudra, concealed inside long sleeves in a gesture of offering and salutation for all sentient beings. The figure is delineated with symmetry, keenly observed artistry that brought forth the rhythmic wood grains in the hollow, with accentuated rinds ran like molten lava along natural swirls and gnarls, intertwined with a rustic simplicity in the wreathed and hardened wood barks; a reminiscence of Ikebana Zen aesthetics enhanced through time.
For a heart without delusions has no fear, and far from all maddening fantasy... Nirvana is here and now.
