Excellent! A
carved-through elephant tusk tip, leaving a filigree of warriors, rocks and
pines. The ivory is honey colored with irregular striations of lighter color where
the layers meet. This work was probably created to commemorate a military victory.
A mounted knight in full regalia holds a lance in one hand and brandishes a sword
in the other. His groom or squire stands atop a rocky outcrop, holding up the
banner of his master. Their joyous expression
a triumphant smile.
