The
Immortal Goddess Seibobo (Chinese Xi Wang Mu) is considered a magnificent luminous
goddess of well being, life and immortality. As Queen Mother of the West she is
said to live with her white cranes and red phoenixes in a golden palace by a lake,
where she grows exquisite, luscious peaches. These peaches are said to blossom
every 3000 years and grant those who taste their sweet juices are granted immortality.
There
is a deeply elegant sway to this Mejii Era ivory statue of the Immortal Goddess
Seibobo . It is as though she is kneeling in every so gently to listen to our
true heart's essence and desire. The okimono is gracefully arched and complimented
by the luscious flow of the tail feathers of her magic phoenix that rests gently
in her arms. Her kimono, in moments expresses intricate spots of detail that reflect
traditional Japanese design motifs. Her regal coiffure is crown-like and her classically
beautiful face communicates both presence and a sublime otherworldliness. This
