Private Collection
Seated
in a lotus posture (padmasana) above a double blanket, elevated on a triple layered
cushion covered with incised floral motifs, this once fully lacquered and gilded
statue of a Lama Rinpoche is radiating with vigor. He is seen here with crisp
facial features, raised eyebrows and painted sharply round eyes, dressed in finely
modeled Tibetan monk robe, with a cape on his back fanned out in accordion folds.
Along with his intriguing
features, the delicate modeling of his hands and fingers emphasized the triumph
of the teacher as well as his teaching. A
lively spiritual essence is observed through the
superb artistry of the statue..
