the Three Regalia (sanshu no jingi) in Shinto ritual, Shinkyo Mirror is a revered
object (mitamashiro) in which the chosen deity resides. As shown here, this gilded
silver on bronze Shinto mirror, framed in a carved wood pedestal, featuring traditional
rolling clouds over turbulent wave. The carving is firm and delicate, and the
bronze mirror appears to be free from scratch and dent or defect of any kind;
although the silver surface is somewhat tarnished due to its age, which can be
polish anew easily. A rare treasure for a serious Japanese antique collector. Sold
