Lokapalas are royal guardians of the four directions, protectors of the dharma
in their concentrated purity and power. Each commands a legion of supernatural
creatures and is traditionally placed as anchor points at the entrance of Buddhist
temples.
Dhrtarashtra
the Guardian King of the East is the maintainer of the state and guardian of the
lands. This antique white marble protector from the Ming Dynasty (14th Century)
sits on a lion and carries a pipa, a Chinese lute. He wears a detailed armor breastplate.
His gaze is fierce, direct and clear in its intensity. This antique marble statue
