This netsuke snuff bottle and tobacco pouch are designed in a simple but attractively executed gourd motif. Confidently carved by a skilled netsuke artist. The circle and diamond pattern are beautifully proportioned. Remarkably, the screw on cap still easily screws on and off, its threads fitting snugly into the antique grooves. The silk pouch is decorated with a floral pattern in gold and green, and its interior is lined with leather. An attractive lady bug clasp caps this still functioning pouch. The ojime is carved from ivory to resemble a pumpkin. Overall this piece is worn, but in surprisingly good condition given the fact of its age.
