to honey colored ivory okimono, lightly stained, depicting an affable chef seated
beside a chopping block, knife in hand. He wears a traditional chef’s hat, with
several folds, indicating his level of accomplishment. His heavy garments are
engraved with foliate and geometric motifs. An example of the popular carvings
of Japanese life and trades produced during the Showa Era.
