An 18th century gilded bronze four-armed Avalokiteshvara Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion. He is seated in padmasana full lotus position, and wearing a diaphanous dhoti gathered in pleats, radiating with vitality in his youthful contours, his upper two arms raised in graceful movements, delicately modeled fingers displaying two vitarka teaching mudras, while two central hands clasped in a namaskar adoration mudra that symbolizing the four immeasurables: immeasurable loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity.

Lost wax cast, hand traced on hot metal for much of the finer details, with delicate necklaces and flowing scarves lending a deep symmetric harmony to the upright posture. This profoundly contemplative statue renders the calm, serene, compassionate state of realized bodhicitta into an elegantly articulated form. The Dalai Lamas and Karmapas are the emanations of Avalokiteshvara. As his emanation, Chenrezig is considered the patron bodhisattva of Tibet. The statue has been consecrated and sealed with a Viswavajra copper plate. It's a small but rare Kangxi gilt bronze highly collectible for discerning collectors.
