is the historical Buddha, the warrior prince Siddhartha Gautama who in the 5th
century BCE became fully enlightened. Statuary that captures the moment of the
prince Siddhartha's enlightenment has a particular potency. For it is here, according
to Buddhist wisdom that we can experience (if just for a moment) the potential
full flowering of our own boddhicitta, the seed of enlightenment that each human
being is said to carry. A
peaceful Thai Buddha bronze head in the classic Ayutthaya style, gazes inward
and emanates outwards with great peace and tranquility, a reminder of our inner
essence the potential of our own boddhicitta waiting to flower and bloom, for
in Buddhism it is believed that every human being has the opportunity to become
fully realized. There is an arch to the eyes and eyebrows and lips that the artist
has rendered on this bust in symmetrical harmony. This bronze is mounted and in
fair condition. (SD)
