a merry circle of delightful karako, happy children in playful movement. All five
figures are Incredibly arranged in a minuscule space. The artist has created a
rhythm in the markings, expressive striations give character to the children’s
collars and happi coats, with flowing
continuity amongst the
children at play. The faces are simply but decisively carved revealing personality
and character in a few strokes. The crème netsuke is silky, moist and dense, the
edges defined but softened by usage and the touch of many hands. There is one
himotoshi at the bottom. This netsuke is in very good condition. (SD)
